Crazy Trip to the Black Hills and more.......

And this was only the beginning............we forgot our sunscreen so had to become creative in the hot afternoon sun. So I made some nose shields! Pretty cute huh? You should have seen the looks that we got as we were passing other cars!
We started our wild convertible ride in the Badlands of South Dakota, the vista's are fantastic and you can see for miles and miles. It is just like being on the moon..............Along the way to the badlands we met a hilarious older bartender in Huron his name was DC, what a character he was we picked up some new jokes and practiced them all the way to the Badlands. This is the type of fun you can have on a road trip in the good old USA ! .
We found this fabulous Winery called the Prairie Berry Winery near Custer, SD. Good thing it was not too far from our hotel. We sat in the glorious late afternoon sun and sipped away. You can always find fun little winery's on any road trip........these are just a few of the pics we took.

Opps????!!!!! I guess we did get a little carried away, oh well we weren't driving, a little glass turned into a whole darn bottle it seems???? Just kidding....

Some of the vivid purple grapes ready to be made into wine.

Then on the the Crazy Horse Monument in the Black Hills. If you have never been here or heard the story of Crazy Horse it is a MUST to see. The entire heads of Mt. Rushmore could fit into the hair of Crazy Horse, that is how huge this monument will be when finished. So far only his three-dimensional head is done and his arm that is extended has been started.

Next came Mt. Rushmore another MUST to see in this country.....it is just amazing !!! I know that my Dad "Joe" would have loved to have worked on this creation.

Next we headed all the way through Wyoming to get to Estes Park, Co. (UGH!) what a long boring ride. It took alot of Allan Jackson and Toby Keith to get us through this part of the tirp. Singing at the top of our lungs all the way. The below picture is one of the many Elk in the park. This is where the rangers say "DO NOT GET TOO CLOSE TO THE ELK", did Dave listen??? What do you think.....

Craziness at a little Brew Pub in Estes Park, Co. What cute men they have there !!!!

Stopped at another great winery called the Winds of Wine in Estes Park......fun was had by all as you can clearly see.
Dave enough already !!!!

We visited the famous "Stanley Hotel" where the "Shining" was filmed with Jack Nichelson....what a fabulous hotel it is and I can just picture the movie being filmed there. Below are some of the items they have on display from the movie.

Dave and I are on the famous staircase at the Stanley Hotel. We would have loved to have stayed one night but at $279 a night we thought ???? Maybe NOT !
OK ...now it gets interesting...this is on the lonnnnngggg ride home through Nebraska and South Dakota....bored? Just try on some hats, put on some alias makeup and ride baby ride !!!

Taking pictues going down Interstate 90..............

The above picture is a tribute to our friend Kent Schultz who used to have this fantastic handlebar mustache !!! Cute honey..very cute.
Below is me .......can you tell how BORED we were at this point???? I don't even think that Toby could have pulled us out of this funk!!!! But we laughed all the way through South Dakota! Can you tell that I am saying I am never going to do this ride again????? Dave dared me to go into a Casey's looking like this but I turned him down.....just a little too scarey don't you think??

THE END
